b. Bootle Footbridge, Merseyside, Sefton
Bootle Footbridge will run over the canal linking housing to local shops. The bridge is a corten steel structure with stainless steel mesh balustrade with oak handrail behind. Strip lighting is set beside the structural fins on the underside of the bridge for dramatic night lighting. The bridge is made in two parts with the mid-point acting as the structural pivot and accentuating the middle of the canal where people stop to watch passing boats play pooh sticks. It is the pausing point when crossing over the canal.
