b. Worlds End Lane, Cherlsfield, Kent

Client: Private
Completion Date: Construction to start summer 2008
Contract sum: £700.000

Project Description

A new-build family house with a sustainable agenda. The design has evolved from two angles. The design has been led by giving careful consideration to the building plot in view of the orientation of the house and the slope of the land. Much analysis of how the family live and use both the house and garden determined the layout and relationship between internal and external spaces. The client was keen to keep the carbon footprint of the building low. Passive solar heating panels, water conservation through grey water reuse and rain water collection, and recycling materials from the demolition of the existing house are being implemented. The construction will be prefabricated timber frame with hemp insulation, clad in chestnut and roofed with sedum.
